UNFORSEEN WRITER
In the spring of 2016, I came across a writing challenge... 100 Naked Words. I was intrigued... Could I write 100 words per day? What would I say? What might come of it?
I began with a sorry little story that wore all my labels, yet led me to learn that a woman who didn’t think she had a creative bone in her body has more than a few.
Nearly a decade later, I'm still wrangling words and ideas into stories, grateful to have found the field-of-dreams where my head and heart play on the same team.
Who knows where an opportunity
embraced might lead?
UNEXPECTED ARTIST
Fueled by rhubarb scones, I crossed two invisible boundaries on a sunny August Sunday. The first was an imaginary line between two states in the Midwest. The second boundary… was a bit more mysterious.
A friend invited me to join her for an interactive art studio experience. I was quite certain at the age of 53 – I was NOT an artist. But… the workshop was brilliantly called mark-making.
Who can’t make marks?
I was pretty hard on myself that day, believing even my marks were… too bright, too big, too messy, too… me?
But a funny thing happened that day under the desk lamp. My hands, eyes, and imagination were bit by a brush of Let’s do more!
I've been creating multi-media artwork to complement my stories ever since. I'm certain I see improvement and... my confidence continues to grow.
Who knows what one will discover about themself when setting out on an adventure?
